I dot not think Bob quoted the most potentially inflammatory part of Trump speech.

    He also said:

‘When you catch somebody in a fraud, you are allowed to go by very different rules’

    and

‘you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”’

On its own his words are not a smoking gun, but in context , given the situation emerging since election night and the mood in the crowd on Wednesday (as described by eye witnesses) I find it hard to believe Trump was not deliberately aiming to encourage his supporters to undertake violent protest.

You talked about a disconnect in rhetoric among trump’s defenders here, but I would like to tell you it is possible to hold both the view that Trump didn’t order the psuedocoup and that his denouncement was horrible treacherous. If a friend of mine tries to overpower and kill a person who was presently attacking me and fails, and walks away with several cuts and a bullet wound, you can see how I may not have ordered it but it would be traitorous and degenerate to publicly denounce it and burn that bridge, even granting that my friend’s plan would require a gross overuse of force compared to what would be sufficient.
