“The Full Story”
Yeah right. Scott tells a bunch of lies and even contradicts himself on several points. For example he claims that Hamas isn’t a purely terrorist organization and only the members of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam brigades support terror, as if that makes the rest of Hamas a legitimate organization, yet if that’s the case, what’s so bad about the Israeli right-wing politicians support of Hamas and their claim that it’s an asset?
Another example: Scott claims the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank are their main crimes in this conflict (which I agree with!) yet then claims that the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is somehow a bad thing and was an obstacle to peace? This is absurd.
There are many legitimate criticisms of the Israeli government’s actions throughout the years, and I say this as an Israeli ancap who opposes the occupation, military conscription, etc. but people like Scott Horton and Dave Smith like to put all the blame on the Israelis and excuse violent acts by Palestinian terrorist groups against innocent civilians because “they’re the oppressed so they have legitimacy in violent actions against the oppressors”. This is obviously peak leftist rhetoric and collectivism.
The episode with Scott Horton is a waste of time. He casually compares Hamas murdering over a 1000 innocent civilians as Indians going off the “reservation.” He conveniently omits Israel withdrew all occupying forces in 2005 and that Gaza received billions of dollars in UN foreign aid. I listened to Journalists Douglas Murray report live from Israel at the time of the attack. His report is significantly different than Scott’s unsubstantiated claims!
