That said … Adam’s comment hit the spot when he said that if there’s no way to know where the next breakthrough will come from, then why get upset when government gets less money and private enterprise picks up the difference? I mean, the guy running the corner bodega might be the next Einstein, right?
I was following an Elon Musk vs Warren Buffett argument (slightly off topic) and it’s an interesting question over who has contributed more. Both made money, but only Musk has actually delivered products. Of course a vibrant free market probably needs both types of people.
